Sesame Orange Chicken Stir Fry

1 chicken breast

1 orange

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

½ teaspoon ground ginger or 5-spice powder (optional)

Handful green veg such as broccoli, mange tout, beans etc

50g noodles

1. Wash and dry the orange and grate the zest (the coloured part of the skin), place in a dish.

2. Cut the orange in half and squeeze the juice into the dish with the zest.

3. Add the honey and sesame oil to the orange juice and mix together.  If add in ginger or 5-spice, add this now too.

4. Cut the chicken breast into strips and place in the orange/honey mixture, stir around a bit.

5. Wash hands and chopping board and knife.

6. Prepare the green vegetable, it needs to be in fairly small pieces so it will cook quickly.

7. Boil the kettle and half fill a saucepan with boiling water, add the noodles and give a quick stir.

8. Heat a wok or frying pan and carefully add the chicken strips, keep the pan sizzling but not so hot that the chicken starts to burn and use a wooden spatula to move the chicken around the pan.

9. When the chicken starts to feel firm and not too bouncy, add the rest of the marinade, the sesame seeds and the green vegetable, stir quickly and leave for a moment, turn the heat down if necessary.

10. Drain the noodles into a colander, rinse with water and tip into the wok.

11. Stir everything together, add salt and pepper if necessary and serve.

This recipe would also work with pork steaks, for a change
